Desperate grabs for power

Howards team are making us all feel very nervous by talking up the need for the need for consistency . We are at war-- are we? . diversity is not important and control is of critical importance???? Abbott and Bishop are pressing the point too much - against our better judgement .

Some of us will vote for the public service doctrines of the opposition rather than the simple private service doctrines they have been trotting out so carelessly this week. Julie---- its all talk; professionals just don't want to stay to work - they have been denied the security of being able to speak and act freely and you offer them a spoon full of sugar for them to follow the latest fad - nothing new too!

If federalism is to work, the federal badge must be well "just a badge" - let the locals do what they do best .Like CSIRO . Support profesionals - give them a bucket .This is not what they have been doing and abbott insists he wants more control " more control from canberra" . fair enough but if you cultivate incompetence and mediocrity ( as fed policy has been for decades ) you need to deal with that first - the problem is not at the bootom but somewhere in the middle .

feds would be far more credible if they used their "curriculum type authorities" to actually increase the professional peer review process in some very weak areas ( like environment ) instead of talking about the laugh a minute crap sessions called performance reviews , It may work a bit in business but govt is not business - time you woke up to this . just talking about it as something that works shows how little you know what is a happening in many areas of the PS .I'm a very good science and maths teacher and i have been forcibly retired from The public service in Victoria.

If you don't think i am right, do a survey of all the best performing public servants who have left the systems in the last 15yrs .Lots of good well trained males no longer serving the public in ways they once did !
Point is too Ms Bishop - treat us as professionals but recognise which professions have unions and which do not !) we are not all doctors with an AMA and a willing public to stand by our better judgement - its all talk for some us who have been sacked or subject to the stupid systems of performance anaylisis which reward mediocrity and fad followers - maybe even project blame for poor child rearing practice on us . seniority shows more respect as does the forms of cadetship That could still be used at low cost . They offer the genuine professional attraction of the security of speaking your mind and growing diversity; keeping your job over being paid to be politically correct . If only you knew what effects your simple stupidity is doing !
